According to the decision of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee, the city allocates 88 apartments and land plots, including 25 apartments and 63 land plots, to serve resettlement arrangement for people in the Ben Thanh - Can Gio Metro project.
The resettlement fund is allocated to eligible cases in wards and communes including Ben Thanh, Xom Chieu, Tan Thuan, Binh Khanh, An Thoi Dong and Can Gio.
In which, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Construction is assigned to specifically notify the location of 25 apartments belonging to public assets managed by the Housing Management and Construction Appraisal Center for the People's Committees of Ben Thanh, Xom Chieu and Tan Thuan wards to organize implementation.
Localities are responsible for preparing dossiers and submitting for approval detailed plans on compensation, support, resettlement and arranging resettlement for cases that meet the conditions according to regulations.
The Department of Construction is also responsible for monitoring and managing the use of the allocated apartment fund, ensuring that it is not duplicated and not used for other purposes during the time the fund is allocated to serve the project.
For 63 land plots, the People's Committees of relevant wards and communes organize the preparation, appraisal, approval and implementation of compensation, support, and resettlement plans according to their authority.
Tan Thuan Ward People's Committee and Can Gio Commune People's Committee shall base on the approved plan to make a list of eligible cases to be allocated resettlement land, transferring it to Tan My Ward People's Committee and An Thoi Dong, Binh Khanh communes to coordinate in carrying out land procedures.
Tan My Ward People's Committee and An Thoi Dong and Binh Khanh communes are responsible for coordinating the implementation of resettlement arrangement, land allocation, issuance of Certificates of land use rights, ownership of assets attached to land and updating cadastral records and land databases according to regulations.
The management and use of apartment funds and land plots must ensure the right purpose, right subjects, standards, and conditions; not to let loss, waste or overlapping arrangement occur.
Ben Thanh - Can Gio Metro was started on December 19, 2025, implemented under the BOO (build - own - operate) contract form, with a total investment of more than 102,000 billion VND, arranged by the investor.
Specifically, compensation, support and resettlement work is implemented using the Ho Chi Minh City budget, with a total budget of about 9,834 billion VND.
The total land area affected by the project is about 153.8 ha, with about 510 affected cases, including 418 cases of partial clearance and 92 cases of total clearance.
Ben Thanh - Can Gio Metro is expected to be completed in 2028. When put into operation, this urban railway line is expected to shorten the travel time from the center of Ho Chi Minh City to Can Gio to about 13 minutes.
The project is also expected to form a large-volume public transport axis, connecting the center of Ho Chi Minh City with Can Gio coastal city, thereby creating more motivation for socio-economic development in the southern area of the city.
