In Can Gio commune, the total land area expected to be recovered for project implementation is more than 110 hectares. In which, the compensation and support land area is more than 107,255 m2, with 27 affected cases, including 22 households and 5 organizations.
To deploy compensation, support and resettlement work, Can Gio Commune People's Committee has issued 27/27 decisions approving specific land prices and compensation, support, and resettlement plans when the State recovers land to implement the project.
The total cost of compensation, support and resettlement approved is more than 379.5 billion VND.
For cases eligible for resettlement, the locality plans to arrange them in Vam Sat 2 Residential Area, An Thoi Dong commune and Ba Xan Residential Area, Binh Khanh commune according to regulations.
At the payment ceremony, Mr. Mai Trung Hung - Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee, Chairman of the People's Committee of Can Gio commune - acknowledged and appreciated the consensus of the people in complying with the policy of land recovery, receiving compensation, support and handing over land to implement the project.
According to Mr. Hung, the consensus and sharing of the people are important factors contributing to ensuring project progress, creating conditions for the project to be implemented soon, thereby promoting the development of transport infrastructure, socio-economics of the locality and Ho Chi Minh City.
Chairman of Can Gio Commune People's Committee also requested relevant agencies and units to continue to fully and promptly implement policies on compensation, support and resettlement according to regulations. At the same time, units need to continue to listen to, guide and resolve legitimate recommendations of people during the project implementation process.
The Ben Thanh - Can Gio Metro project is about 53.8 km long, starting at Ben Thanh station (23.9 Park) and ending at Can Gio Depot.
The metro line passes through Ben Thanh, Khanh Hoi, Xom Chieu, Tan Thuan, Tan My wards and Nha Be, Binh Khanh, An Thoi Dong, Can Gio communes.
The project was grounded on December 19, 2025 in the form of BOO (build - own - operate), with a total investment of more than 102,000 billion VND, arranged by the investor.
The cost of compensation, support and resettlement alone is about 9,834 billion VND, allocated from the Ho Chi Minh City budget. The total affected land area is about 153.8 hectares.
The city requests to complete the handover of land before September 2, 2026.
According to the plan, the metro line is expected to be completed in 2028. When put into operation, the travel time from the center of Ho Chi Minh City to Can Gio will be shortened to about 13 minutes.
