Kien Giang - 5 resettlement areas serving APEC 2027 in Phu Quoc with a total investment of about VND 7,627 billion, construction is planned to be completed by August 2, 2026.

On May 30, Chairman of Kien Giang Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Thanh Nhan had a working session with Phu Quoc City People's Committee and relevant agencies, departments and branches to listen to reports on the progress of projects and works serving the 2027 APEC conference in Phu Quoc City.

The mission heard the report on the progress of the investment project of Cua Can Lake, Duong Dong 2 Lake Investment Project, embankment construction and leveling projects to build APEC Conference Center and functional works; The project to build underground technical infrastructure works in An Thoi area, the project of construction of underground technical infrastructure works in Duong Dong area, review the status of resettlement areas expected to arrange site clearance (GPMB) for emergency projects to serve the APEC 2027 Summit.

Regarding resettlement areas expected to be allocated land use rights for emergency projects to serve the APEC 2027 high-level week, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Thanh Nhan directed the Cua Can resettlement area to urgently deploy the development of a detailed plan at a scale of 1/500, arranging reasonable resettlement locations in harmony with actual needs. Resettlement areas are implemented according to the plan and schedule.

Reporting on this issue, the leader of Phu Quoc City said that 5 resettlement areas with a total investment of about VND 7,627 billion, according to the mechanism submitted by the People's Committee of Kien Giang province to the Government, are self-balanced capital for the project. The locations of the projects are in areas of important significance in Phu Quoc City.

Specifically, Cua Can resettlement area in Cua Can commune has an area of about 40 hectares, the implementation of the resettlement project is affected by the site clearance of nearly 5.9 hectares of land managed by the People's Committee of Cua Can commune, about 45 plots of land are affected and a subdivision area of 68 plots.

When completed, the project is expected to create a land fund of about 1,800 resettlement plots. The total investment is 1,617 billion VND. The project is included in the general planning according to Decision 150 of the Prime Minister, there is a 1/2000 zoning plan, and there is no land use plan for 2025.

Cua Can resettlement area in Cua Duong commune (Dong Cay Sao resettlement) has a land acquisition area of about 49 hectares, is protective forest land in sub-area 75 (Dong Cay Sao), abbreviated as area 333 hectares.

The project is expected to create a land fund for about 2,200 resettlement plots, with a total investment of VND 1,151 billion. The project is submitting for appraisal and approval of the detailed planning 1/500, and has a land use plan for 2025.

The Suoi Lon Lake resettlement area has an area of about 30.15 hectares, the site clearance for the resettlement project affects about 16 plots of land and two subdivision areas of 146 plots. In case the planning has renovated the area adjacent to Provincial Road 973, it will affect about 60 houses, in case of no renovation, it will affect about 80 houses.

When completed, the project is expected to create a land fund of about 1,300 resettlement plots, with a total investment of VND 1,272 billion. The project is not included in the general planning according to Decision 150 of the Prime Minister, there is no 1/2000 planning, and there is no land use plan for 2025.

The An Thoi resettlement area has an area of 23.87 hectares in the An Thoi urban area of 260 hectares, the site clearance for the project affects about 186 plots of land and 2 subdivision areas of about 43 plots, about 458 houses.

The project is expected to create a land fund for about 1,200 resettlement plots, with a total investment of 1,617 billion VND. The project has a 1/500 plan, and there is no land use plan for 2025.

Ham Ninh resettlement area is expanded to an area of about 67.96ha (including streams and neighboring green areas), mainly land of the people, the implementation of the project's site clearance affects about 70 plots of land and 4 subdivision areas of about 220 plots and 110 houses.

When completed, the project is expected to create a land fund of about 2,500 resettlement plots, with a total investment of 1,970 billion VND. The project is included in the general planning according to Decision 150 of the Prime Minister, there is no 1/2000 zoning plan, no land use plan in 2025.

It is expected that the Plan for site clearance for resettlement projects will be implemented from May 15, 2025 to September 2026. Construction plan is from July 28, 2025 to August 2, 2026.
