Chairman of Kien Giang Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Thanh Nhan has signed and issued a plan to organize the implementation of projects to serve the APEC 2027 Conference in Phu Quoc City, Kien Giang Province according to Decision No. 948/QD-TTg dated May 17, 2025 of the Prime Minister.
According to the plan, the planning, organizing the adjustment of the general planning of Phu Quoc City carried out in parallel with the organization of the planning of subdivision, detailed planning, on the basis of updating projects and works for the APEC Summit 2027.
Kien Giang has implemented a total of 21 projects. It is divided into 2 groups of projects including: public investment projects; investment projects under the public-private partnership (PPP) method and business investment.
Of which, 10 public investment projects with central budget support of about VND 20,166 billion will be implemented, including the following projects: Cua Can Lake investment; Duong Dong 2 Lake investment; embankment construction and site clearance for the APEC Conference Center and functional works; provincial road DT 9.75 (section from DT 9.73 - Phu Quoc Airport - DT 9.75 - DT.973).
Urban metro line 1 project (Investment in the form of PPP - BOT contract or other forms of investment according to legal regulations); APEC Avenue project; Project to build underground technical infrastructure works in An Thoi area; project to build underground technical infrastructure works in Duong Dong area.
Invest in technical infrastructure, digital transformation to build a comprehensive smart management monitoring center of Phu Quoc City; Cua Can resettlement area, Ho Suoi Lon, An Thoi, Ham Ninh.
11 projects invested under the public-private partnership (PPP) method and business investment with a preliminary total investment of VND 116,972 billion, including projects: investment in expanding Phu Quoc International Airport; APEC Conference Organizing Center; Bai Bon Waste Treatment Area (Ham Ninh); Bai Bon Waste Treatment Plant (Ham Ninh).
An Thoi domestic solid waste treatment plant; Concentrated wastewater treatment plant in An Thoi area; Concentrated wastewater treatment plant in Duong Dong area; Duong Dong 2 water plant; Cua Can lake water plant; Mixed urban area - Red ground; Organic tourism mixed urban area of Ong Quan Mountain.
The People's Committee of Kien Giang province requires relevant departments and branches; the People's Committee of Phu Quoc city; investors and agencies assigned to manage projects based on assigned functions and tasks, to actively and effectively participate in the investment implementation of projects.
At the same time, proactively synthesize materials used for projects, review sources, construction material production capacity, transportation plans, and gathering places at both ends of the mainland and island ports. Develop a detailed plan to implement site clearance and resettlement work, ensuring compliance with the progress according to this plan, in accordance with the provisions of law.
Timely report and advise on handling difficulties in the implementation of investment and construction projects to the Provincial People's Committee (through the Department of Construction) for appropriate adjustments and supplements.
