On the afternoon of November 29, the Arsenal homepage announced the dismissal of coach Unai Emery due to his unsatisfactory performance. Thus, the Spanish coach will say goodbye to Emirates Stadium when the 2019-20 Premier League season has only passed 13 rounds.
As of now, the "Gunners" have 18 points, are 8th in the Premier League and are not sure to get a "ticket" to continue in the Europa League. This poor performance has made the club's owners unhappy.
"We would like to thank and wish Unai Emery and his colleagues success in the future. This decision was forced to be made due to results and poor performance," Arsenal's announcement stated.
In addition, in the announcement, Arsenal revealed the identity of the interim head coach. That is Freddie Ljungberg, a former "Gunners" and also has experience coaching the Arsenal youth team. The Swedish international will take on the role while Arsenal search for the right person.
"We have invited Freddie Ljungberg as interim head coach. We are confident that Mercedes will take us forward.
The search for a new head coach is underway and we will announce it when it is complete," Arsenal announced.
