Allan Saint-Maximin has just caused controversy when he revealed that he was once recommended by Fenerbahce's medical team to use a "treatment" classified as a banned substance while playing for this team in the 2024-2025 season.
In a podcast conversation, the Frenchman said that at the time he was sick, he was given a drug that he believed was a violation of anti-doping regulations.
Saint-Maximin emphasized: "There are things that people don't dare to make public, because if they say them, they will threaten you. Sometimes you are pushed out of bounds with sports."
Saint-Maximin then continued to post on social network X ( social network X) ( Twitter), affirming that he was not targeting the coaching staff or Mourinho, but only mentioned the individuals around the team: "I don't know what their real intentions are, but that is considered doping. I felt like I needed to speak up."
Fenerbahce immediately reacted strongly. In an official statement, coach Jose Mourinho's team affirmed that Saint-Maximin was deliberately distorting the treatment process and damaging the club's reputation.
"We will pursue legal quyen to protect our image and reputation against these false allegations," Fenerbahce stated.
According to international media, there is no sign that coach Jose Mourinho is directly involved in this incident. However, his relationship with Saint-Maximin has also been strained.
At the beginning of the year, Mourinho had removed him from the Europa League squad because he thought he was unfit and overweight. In response, Saint-Maximin denied and posted a photo proving his weight on social media with the status: "The lie can bloom, but it will never bear fruit".
Saint-Maximin's brother also criticized Mourinho for "attacking someone in a difficult period, right on their birthdays".
After many scandals, Saint-Maximin left Fenerbahce and returned to his home club Al Ahli (Saudi Arabia). Last season, he played a total of 31 matches for the Turkish national team, scoring 4 goals and having 5 assists.
