The violent incident that occurred after the match between Bhayangkara FC and Dewa United at the Indonesia U20 tournament on April 19 is causing great controversy in public opinion. The focus is on young striker Fadly Alberto Hengga when this player had unsportsmanlike behavior during the scuffle.
According to the recorded developments, players of the two teams argued and then switched to a brawl. During the escalating tension, Fadly suddenly rushed in and kicked from behind, causing a Dewa United player to fall hard onto the field. Some Dewa players then chased after him in response, making the situation even more complicated.
Not only Fadly, some other Bhayangkara players were also reported to have violent behavior. Ahmad Catur Prasetyo was alleged to have attacked an opposing member even though this person was no longer resisting, while Aqilah Lissunnah Aljundi had a situation of kicking another player in the stomach.
Dewa United club leaders expressed dissatisfaction after the incident. President Ardian Satya Negara said that the youth football environment needs to be oriented towards education and development, instead of allowing violent acts to occur. He also affirmed that he will consider legal measures against related individuals.
At the national team level, U20 Indonesia coach - Nova Arianto also spoke out about the incident when Fadly was a player who was once called up. He said that the parties are clarifying the cause and emphasized that young players, especially those in the national team, need to maintain standards in competition and behavior on the field.
The Indonesia U20 Championship (EPA Super League U20) is a playground for youth teams of professional clubs, competing in a two-round round-robin format.
The 2025-2026 season is entering its final stage as Bhayangkara and Dewa United both have competing goals. However, the recent incident continues to show that the issue of behavioral control in Indonesian youth football has not been thoroughly resolved.
