Hanoi Department of Education and Training on April 20 said that it is estimated that nearly 130,000 students registered to take the 10th grade high school entrance exam for the 2026-2027 school year. This year, the whole city has about 147,000 9th grade students, an increase of more than 20,000 students compared to the previous school year.
With nearly 130,000 students registered to participate in the exam, the Hanoi Department of Education and Training plans to arrange about 250 exam sites with more than 5,400 exam rooms to organize this exam.
The 10th grade high school entrance exam for the 2026-2027 school year in the city will take place on May 30 and 31, 2026.
Candidates taking the exam take exams in three subjects: Math, Literature and Foreign Language (mainly English).

Students taking exams at one of the four specialized schools Hanoi - Amsterdam, Nguyen Hue, Chu Van An, Son Tay will take additional specialized subjects on June 1.
The admission score for the general system is a total of three subjects, not multiplied by a coefficient (maximum 30); while specialized schools consider a total score of four subjects, in which specialized subjects are multiplied by a coefficient of two (50).
This year's exam takes place almost two weeks earlier than every year, and one month earlier than expected at the beginning of the school year.
Previously, from April 10 to the end of April 17, students registered to take the 10th grade high school entrance exam for the 2026-2027 school year in the online form of the Hanoi City's first-level enrollment information portal.
According to the regulations of the Hanoi Department of Education and Training, students are not allowed to adjust their aspirations after the registration deadline expires.
At this time, secondary schools, vocational education centers - continuing education organize for 9th grade students to re-check all personal information, registered aspirations, priority points, encouragement points... on the exam registration form downloaded and printed from the system. If there are errors, the school is responsible for summarizing and reporting to the People's Committees of wards and communes to the Hanoi Department of Education and Training for timely correction.
According to the plan, on April 24, the People's Committees of wards and communes will send to the Hanoi Department of Education and Training exam registration forms, exam applications of students... No later than May 6, the Hanoi Department of Education and Training will announce the number of students registering for admission to each high school.
