Santiago Bernabeu is one of the most famous football fields in the world that Real Madrid have used since black and white. This stadium has witnessed many successes of the capital Madrid team.
Having existed for more than 70 years, the 81,000-seat football field is a symbol of world football, however, according to the development of the times, the Royal team believes that the stadium needs to be upgraded appropriately.
In 2014, president Florentino Perez cherished the plan to turn Bernabeu into the world's number one stadium. However, local authorities have not approved the project because it consumes too much space in Madrid.
Information in AS said that after a long period of convincing the Madrid City Council, Los Blancos' plan was approved.
If with many other clubs, the football field renovation plan focuses on the number of seats to attract more fans to watch live, Real Madrid goes the opposite way.
Accordingly, the cost-effective project to upgrade the white Vultures of up to 575 million euros will increase to 1 seat in the stands - from 80,243 seats to 80,242. The strategy that President Florentino Perez and his team are aiming for is to turn the Bernabeu into an extremely modern complex.
Before being officially approved, the City Council agreed with them on a plan to turn the southeastern area of the stadium into a Shopping Center. The roof will be designed with the most advanced technology so that players and fans can play and enjoy the match without having to worry about weather conditions. At the bottom of the canopy is a giant screen to display the sponsors' names. Surrounding the stadium is also a giant plasma screen displaying goals, scores, and promotional clips.

The new additional project needs an additional 90,000 square meters of space. The height of the stadium has also been raised by 12m to facilitate the design of the roof. The space between the Paseo de la Castella area and the western stand of the stadium, which is currently a parking lot, will soon become a public square for pedestrians. Real is also planning to scale up its museum, one of the city's largest tourist attractions.
Real Madrid wants the work to start in May, with the expected time of use being October 2022, however, according to the assessment, this will take at least 4 to 5 years.
