Cole Palmer has been named England's Player of the Year for the 2023-2024 season, the Football Association (FA) announced early on October 9 - Vietnam time.
The 22-year-old Chelsea midfielder has been voted England fans' favourite player, ahead of Real Madrid midfielder Jude Bellingham and Arsenal striker Bukayo Saka.
In the last 2 years, Saka has been honored.
Palmer made his Three Lions debut in a 2-0 home win over Malta in November 2023 and has since made nine appearances for the national team. At EURO 2024, he made five appearances, scoring twice, helping England reach the final.
Notably, at EURO 2024, he did not start a single match, playing a total of 154 minutes.
One of Palmer's two goals at EURO 2024 came in the final against Spain in Berlin. He also provided an assist for Ollie Watkins' winning goal against the Netherlands in the semi-final.
Palmer, who has scored six goals in seven Premier League games this season, becomes the first Chelsea player to win the award since current England assistant coach Ashley Cole was honoured in 2010.
In the 2023–24 season, Palmer was awarded the Premier League Young Player of the Year, along with individual awards for Player of the Month, Goal of the Month, as well as two awards within the Chelsea club, the Professional Footballers' Association and the London Men's Player of the Year.
