Benjamin Sesko has been very close to Newcastle after the Northeast side of England put up a deal of €80 million to convince RB Leipzig.
This amount is divided into 2 parts, 75 million Euros in advance payment and 5 million Euros in additional fees. If this amount of money is offered by Leipzig, Sesko will become the most expensive contract in Newcastle's history.
Alexander Isak has now returned to training with his teammates at Newcastle, but perhaps the Swedish striker's mind is still on Liverpool.
Newcastle's acceleration of Sesko's deal shows that they are ready for Isak to leave at a record Premier League price. Earlier this week, Liverpool sent Newcastle a £110 million offer to buy Isak but were rejected.
If Sesko comes to Newcastle, he will create a transfer Domino. Sesko's move to Newcastle would be a condition for Isak to join Liverpool. Since then, Man United have had only one striker target, Aston Villa's Watkins. "Red Devils" fans are not leaning towards Sesko or Watkins at this point, as long as there is a better striker than Hojlund.

Sesko's current contract with Leipzig runs until 2029, after the two sides signed an extension in the summer of 2024. Previously, the price to break Sesko's contract with Leipzig was 65 million Euros.
The Slovenia international joined Leipzig in 2023 from Salzburg. He has made 87 appearances for Leipzig, scoring 39 goals and providing 8 assists. Sesko made his Slovenia debut shortly after his 18th birthday. He has scored 16 goals in 41 matches, and is the core of Slovenia at EURO 2024.
In the 2024-2025 season, Sesko has had a quite impressive performance but not too excellent for the whole of Europe to keep an eye on. The striker has scored one Bundesliga goal (34) less than in the 2023-24 season despite playing nearly 900 minutes extra. Sesko also cannot repeat the streak of 7 consecutive wins like the 2023-2024 season. That means Sesko's form is on the decline despite some impressive goals (especially against Bayern Munich at Red Bull Arena).
In the past 2 years, Sesko has tended to retreat deep to connect with the midfield, thereby opening up more tactical skills. However, to reach the level of coordination with the midfield, thereby getting a direct hit, Sesko cannot compare with Harry Kane. A very strong shot is Sesko's advantage, but in the Premier League, when his physical strength has been constantly exhausted, if he does not restrain himself, Sesko could be exhausted in the middle of the season.

If he had returned 20 years ago, Sesko would have been very suitable for the classic 4-4-2 formation, completely capable of scoring 15-20 goals per season. Now, under countless new forms of tactical operation, whether the Slovene striker can adapt or not is a question being raised. In a tournament that changes every week like the Premier League, having skills is not enough, you need to know how to adapt flexibly, Sesko is quite weak in this regard.
