Recently, former president of the Spanish Football Federation Luis Rubles was convicted after kissing Jenni Hermoso without her permission.
He must pay a fine of more than £8,000. Prosecutors initially offered Rubles a two-and-a-half-year prison sentence, but rejected it due to his poor serious behavior.
The court also ruled a ban on Rubles from approaching Hermoso within a radius of 200m and a year of ban on contact with her.
Rubiales has repeatedly denied the forced kissing of Hermoso, saying the kiss was just "a way to celebrate between friends".
However, Hermoso appeared as a witness at the Audiencia Nacional Madrid court in early February 2025, describing being grabbed by Rubiales and kissing without consent.
She said in court: "He hugged my ear and kissed me in the mouth. I felt it was completely wrong and then I realized that the leader had just kissed me. This should not happen in any social context or job".
"As a woman, I feel disrespected. That was a moment that made me regret one of the happiest days of my life".
The court also received a report that after the scandal, Rubiales and his assistants pressured Hermoso to declare it was a kiss of consensus, in order to curb the backlash from the public.
The female player was reportedly called off the team's bus at the Sydney Stadium and forced to sign the document. Hermoso burst into tears when he had to publicly reduce the severity of the incident.
After the Spanish women's team defeated England to win the 2023 Women's World Cup, during the celebration, Rubles kissed Hermoso.
This kiss caused public outrage. The FIFA World Football Federation has decided to suspend Rubles. He also had to resign as Chairman in September 2023 due to fierce criticism.
Rubles was banned from all football activities for three years in October 2023 for his actions in the World Cup final in Sydney. The warrant was upheld when he appealed in January 2024.
