In a match where both teams did not have any important goals, Leicester City and Chelsea fans were looking forward to the rain of goals as a farewell from their team when the season ended.
Leicester have made no changes to their starting lineup compared to the match against Manchester City in round 37. The 4-1-4-1 formation used by coach Brendan Rodgers is expected to cause many difficulties for Chelsea. Meanwhile, Kepa Arrizabalaga and Eden Hazard on the bench are two of six adjustments made by coach Maurizio Sarri compared to the win over Eintracht Frankfurt in the Europa League.
While many people were waiting for the home team to attack massively, Chelsea was the team that started better with a chance in the 3rd minute. Goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel made an excellent save from Ross Barkley's shot.
The Blues are also proactive in their slow, two-sided deployment, while Leicester are in a deadlock with long passes to Jamie Vardy.
After more than 15 minutes, the game started to get more tense and Leicester also had some shots but not too dangerous for will Cabalero.
In the 29th minute, Gonzalo Higuain was close to opening the scoring when his kick just missed the post. In the 40th minute, Ruben Loftus-Cheek also had a similar chance, but the ball went over the crossbar.
Leicester's best chance came in the 44th minute, when Vardy escaped but pushed more, narrowing the gap, so the comeback was blocked by Cabalero.
The developments in the second half were not much different from the first half of the match, when both sides kept getting on the ball but lacked accuracy in the final step. It was all about chances or coming very close, even with Chelseas Hazard in the last 20 minutes.
Along with Tottenham's draw with Everton, 1 point helped Chelsea maintain 3rd place in the rankings.
