Accordingly, the temporary closure time for Vinh airport is from 0:00 on July 1 to 23:59 on December 31, 2025.
The Civil Aviation Authority requires the Vietnam Airports Corporation (ACV) and Vinh airport to be responsible for fully complying with legal regulations on investment and construction during the airport closure period.
Vinh airport management units are also assigned to preside over the supervision of construction in compliance with the plan to ensure security, safety, fire prevention and fighting and environmental sanitation considered and approved by the Civil Aviation Authority.
At the same time, these units must bear all responsibilities related to ensuring security, safe exploitation, fire prevention, environmental sanitation, labor safety and disease prevention during construction.
ACV was required to submit a set of documents on the plan to ensure security, safety and environmental sanitation approved by the Civil Aviation Authority to the Northern Airports Authority. After that, the Port Authority is responsible for supervising the above work and strictly handling organizations and individuals who violate regulations.
ACV needs to proactively work directly and provide data to Vietnam Air Traffic Management Corporation to carry out aviation news notification procedures according to regulations.
Vinh Airport was put into use at the end of 2003, currently has a runway 2,400m long, 45m wide, with a designed capacity of 2.75 million passengers per year. The airport serves 21-26 flights per day.
In July 2023, the airport had to close for nearly 16 hours due to cracked asphalt concrete on about 40 square meters of runway.
To ensure safety during the exploitation process, ACV proposed temporarily closing Vinh airport to carry out comprehensive repairs, with a total investment of nearly 1,000 billion VND.
