Manchester United striker Joshua Zirkzee is said to have accepted an offer to leave Old Trafford from Juventus - just a few months after joining the club. In that context, the "Red Devils" new coach Ruben Amorim is said to not trust the Dutch star.
The 23-year-old joined Man United from Bologna for around £37 million this summer. However, he has only scored 1 goal in 16 appearances and there have been doubts about his suitability for the club.
Zirkzee's playing time has been reduced in recent matches under interim coach Ruud van Nistelrooy. The tactician has only used him as a reserve player, with his most recent Premier League start coming in a 3-0 defeat to Tottenham in September.
Despite having just signed a 5-year contract, Zirkzee could still leave Old Trafford. According to Calciomercato, Juventus are considering recruiting this player in January.
A move to Turin would see Zirkzee reunite with Thiago Motta, who was his coach at Bologna last season. The Italian has previously helped Zirkzee develop his impressive ability with 12 goals in 37 appearances.
The report said Motta is looking for a back-up option for Dusan Vlahovic, as Arkadiusz Milik's future remains uncertain and Nico Gonzalez is vulnerable to injury.
The newspaper also previously confirmed that Amorim did not have full confidence in Zirkzee. There have been reports that Erik ten Hag is not interested in signing him either. However, Man United are only willing to loan Zirkzee out because they have spent a large sum of money and still consider him a star in the future.
Amorim is said to be on the target list for the January transfer window. This includes Sporting star Viktor Gyokeres, who has taken Europe by storm after scoring 23 goals in 18 games this season.
Juventus said they would be happy to successfully borrow Zirkzee, but could demand a buy-in clause next summer. Previously, negotiations on Vlahovic's new contract had not yet come to an end.
Zirkzee started his career at Bayern Munich before playing for Parma and Anderlecht on loan, then joined Bologna in 2022. He scored 14 goals in all competitions for Serie A in 2 seasons before joining Old Trafford.
Zirkzee had a promising start when he scored the decisive goal to help the "Red Devils" defeat Fulham in his Premier League debut match. However, he did not score any more goals and only had 1 assist in the tournament.
