Manchester United are considering two potential options to resolve a land dispute that risks delaying plans to build a new £2 billion stadium.
In March, the club announced plans to demolish Old Trafford to build a completely new stadium with a capacity of up to 100,000 seats.
Sir Jim Ratcliffe hopes the project he calls "The Wembley of the North" will be completed by 2030. However, the club is having difficulty in buying back an important plot of land next to the area currently owned by the Freightliner transport company.

According to British media, Man United believe that this plot of land is worth about £40 million, and they think Freightliner is "trying to profit by offering a significantly higher valuation". Therefore, the "Red Devils" are looking for potential solutions to break the current deadlock.
It is reported that a mandatory buy-out could be used to reclaim the land, while Man United are also planning to redevelop the entire area around the new stadium. The report added that the "Red Devils" could buy a part of the land in advance to build the stadium, and will then continue to buy the rest.
It is estimated that the project to build a new stadium will create up to 92,000 jobs, and is expected to attract about 1.8 million more visitors.
"Today marks the beginning of an extremely exciting journey, towards building the world's largest football stadium, right in the heart of the rebuilt Old Trafford area.
Our current stadium has served us excellently for the past 115 years, but it has fallen behind the best stadiums in the world.
By building next to the current location, we will be able to preserve the quintessence of Old Trafford, while creating a truly modern stadium, bringing a new experience to fans" - Ratcliffe said about the project.

Meanwhile, former Man United coach Sir Alex Ferguson shared: "Man United always have to strive in every field, both on and off the pitch, including the stadium where we play.
Old Trafford holds many special memories for me personally, but we need to be brave and seize this opportunity to build a new roof, suitable for the future, where new pages of history will be written."
