Patrick Dorgu has just completed his medical and officially signed a contract with Man United. The total value of the deal is about 35 million Euros, including 5 million Euros in additional fees. The contract between Dorgu and Man United is valid until the summer of 2030 with an option to extend for another year.
Dorgu is Man United's second new signing in the 2025 winter transfer window, after Ayden Heaven arrived from Arsenal. Although it has not been completely as expected, at least Ruben Amorim can breathe a sigh of relief because the team has been strengthened to continue the race for a ticket to the European Cup at the end of the season.
The addition of Patrick Dorgu is considered very important when Man United's left wing is very weak. Luke Shaw is constantly injured and Marcus Rashford has just joined Aston Villa on loan until the end of the season. After keeping Alejandro Garnacho, Ruben Amorim wants Patrick Dorgu to coordinate well with the Argentine striker to create the expected strength on the left wing.
"I am incredibly proud to be called a Manchester United player. This is a very special day for me and my family. I am looking forward to working with Ruben Amorim because his vision for the future of the club is very exciting.
At Manchester United, I was developed on a clear plan. The club is a very suitable place for me to fully develop my potential as well as my great ambitions in my career" - Dorgu shared.
Technical director Jason Wilcox said Dorgu is an exciting young talent with strong attacking and defensive abilities. The Danish star has good adaptability and is expected to become a core member of Amorim's squad.
"Dorgu has had a fantastic start to his career at the age of 20. We know he will continue to develop further under the guidance of our coaching staff.
Dorgu is the latest young player we have brought to the club. We believe each of these young talents has the potential to become a world-class star. They have the ability to contribute to the common goals Man United is striving for" - Jason Wilcox said.
As for Ruben Amorim, he is quickly finding stability for the 3-4-3 formation. This system is in dire need of real storms on the wings. In particular, the left-back position is a special priority. Last season and the first half of this season, Man United constantly had to play in a patchwork state when Luke Shaw was injured and Tyrell Malacia was not up to standard.
Despite testing Diogo Dalot many times, Amorim still did not agree because the Portuguese defender was played with the wrong foot and could not fully develop his ability. If Dorgu quickly got into the rhythm, he could completely take the starting position, forcing Shaw to sit on the bench when he returned and fall into a situation of competing for a starting position.
