Up to now in the summer of 2025, Arsenal have announced two new contracts: 31-year-old midfielder Christian Norgaard from Brentford and 26-year-old midfielder Martin Zubimendi from Real Sociedad.
According to British media, they are about to complete the agreement to recruit 27-year-old striker Viktor Gyokeres from Sporting Lisbon and are also negotiating with Crystal Palace about 27-year-old attacking midfielder Eberechi Eze.
Currently, these are not the only players Arsenal want to recruit. They have sent a proposal to Valencia to 21-year-old centre-back Cristhian Mosquera and are also negotiating with Chelsea about 23-year-old winger Noni Madueke.
What if The Gunners sign all these players? Those six players will have an average age of 25.8 - four years older than the average age of Arsenal's current key players when they are signed.

Maybe it's the arrival of new sporting director Andrea Berta, or maybe Arsenal are Fed up with just finishing second in the Premier League. Regardless of the reason, this is a significant change in the club's building methods. But is it effective? That depends a lot on each player.
Of the two players who have debuted and one player who is likely to be signed, Norgaard is perhaps the underdog. Part of the reason is because he plays for Brentford. But with the money Arsenal spent, this is a contract worth waiting for. This midfielder is competitive, good at aerial skills, violates the penalty area, shoots and passes the ball impressively.

As for Zubimendi, he is not really outstanding in terms of statistics, but this was once a target sought after by Liverpool a lot. And remember, The Kop are always highly appreciated for discovering talent. The Spanish midfielder can bring tactical intelligence and the ability to adjust the tempo of the match.
Meanwhile, Gyokeres has an average of 0.56 expected goals (excluding penalties) and assists per 90 minutes as a 24-year-old in the Championship two years ago. That is exactly Havertz's achievement in two years at Arsenal, except that he did this in the Premier League.
However, Gyokeres is one of the fastest strikers in Europe today - a type of player Arsenal could need. In particular, this striker has had explosive scoring seasons for Sporting in Portugal.

Norgaard may only play for a few minutes if someone is injured. His transfer fee of more than €10 million will not significantly affect Arsenal's future financial flexibility.
But the 70 million Euros for Zubimendi and the similar fee for Gyokeres are both big risks. These are the players expected to become the mainstay of a club that is eager to win the Premier League and Champions League next season.
