Barca did not disclose how much the annual deal was worth, but president Joan Laporta previously said it would be the biggest ever in world football.
According to ESPN, the contract between Nike and Barcelona will be worth much more than the current 100 million Euros/year. However, the increase will depend on some additional terms.
Figures on these types of deals are not always made public in football. Manchester United previously announced a 10-year, $1.1 billion partnership with Adidas in 2023.
Real Madrid also received about 120 million Euros/year under the agreement with Adidas, when the contract between the two sides was signed in 2019.
"Barcelona and Nike, two leading brands in the sports industry, are delighted to announce a new start with a multi-year partnership agreement, effective from this season, bringing a new model of strategic cooperation between the two organizations," Barcelona said in a statement.
The Catalan club also confirmed that this new partnership consolidates Nike as the club's principal and official technical partner across all levels of the team, providing a unique model that strengthens the brand bond and drives growth in the global retail and licensing business.
Barca and Nike have been working together since 1998 and the new deal helps to strengthen the club's finances as they try to comply with spending limits imposed by LaLiga.
Barcelona have been spending more than they earn due to poor management under Josep Bartemeu, with LaLiga limiting their wage bill from €648m to €270m after the summer transfer window of 2023.
That has left them struggling, especially when it comes to signing new players, but with a series of austerity measures and asset sales, Barca’s salary cap has risen to €426m at the start of this season.
According to Joan Laporta, Barcelona are currently around €60 million over this limit. The new deal with Nike will close this gap, but it is unclear to what extent. If all goes well, Barcelona will be in a better position to buy players and register them in the summer transfer window of 2025.
Despite their financial troubles, Barcelona have been in fine form this season under Hansi Flick. They have won 11 of their 12 La Liga games, beating Real Madrid 4-0 away from home. They have also won three of their four UEFA Champions League games this season.
