Ukraine signals stopping attacks
On September 14 (local time), according to Xinhua, President Volodymyr Zelensky said that Ukraine is ready to stop some attacks if Russia also stops attacks targeting Kiev's power systems, energy facilities, essential infrastructure and food supply routes.
Mr. Zelensky emphasized that any partial ceasefire must be credible, lasting and effective not only for a short time before the elections scheduled to take place in Russia this month. According to him, reducing tensions related to essential infrastructure could be the first step towards peace.
Earlier, US President Donald Trump said that Russia and Ukraine had agreed to stop attacks on energy infrastructure.
Oil tanker explodes after ramming a mine in Hormuz
On the same day, the Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said that a super oil tanker named EL GAIA exploded and caught fire after hitting a mine while trying to pass through the Strait of Hormuz along a route that Iran considers "banned".
According to sources, Iranian forces could not control the fire and the entire ship was engulfed in flames. The IRGC said it had warned of the risks when using the above route, and affirmed that the Strait of Hormuz is still closed and under the control of the Iranian navy.
Previously, the Persian Gulf Strait Authority (PGSA) warned insurance companies, ship owner liability insurance clubs and ship classification organizations not to provide services to ships on the "violating" list.
Houthi says Saudi Arabia's 7 airstrikes in Yemen
In another development, according to Xinhua, a media agency linked to the Ansar Allah (Houthi) movement, said Saudi Arabian fighter jets carried out 7 airstrikes targeting Saada province, northern Yemen, an area controlled by the Houthis.
According to sources, 2 of the airstrikes targeted targets south of Saada city. The raids took place amid escalating tensions between Saudi Arabia and the Houthi forces in Yemen.
Spokesman Ansar Allah Yahya Saree said Houthi forces responded to Saudi Arabian aircraft with some Yemeni-made surface-to-air missiles. He said Typhoon and F-15 fighters participated in the airstrike targeting Saada.
