On the evening of December 8, the Thai team will play the opening match of the 2024 AFF Cup (new name is ASEAN Cup) against Timor Leste at Hang Day Stadium (Hanoi).
Because Timor Leste does not have a stadium that meets the standards to host international matches, they borrowed Hang Day Stadium as their home stadium for this AFF Cup.
Timor Leste’s matches at Hang Day Stadium will not be sold at the gate, fans can enter for free. There will be 2 matches of Timor Leste at this stadium, against Thailand on December 8 and Singapore on December 14.
Ticket issuance conditions will be implemented by the Timor Leste Football Federation but the organization has no plans to sell tickets.
At a press conference before the opening match against Thailand, Timor Leste head coach Simon Ellechette sent his thanks to the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF).
"VFF has given us the opportunity to choose a stadium in Vietnam. Since we arrived here, everyone has been friendly and supportive of the team. We hope to continue to receive support in Timor Leste's matches and have the feeling of playing at our home stadium."
This will be an opportunity for Vietnamese fans to watch the War Elephants' star players compete. Thailand brought a very strong squad to the Southeast Asian championship, with stars in high form such as Ekanit Panya, Supachai, Suphanat, Nicholas Mickelson, Kritsada, Pansa Hemviboon, Chalermsak, Jonathan Khemdee, Worachit, Ben Davis...
