Former captain Harry Maguire is among seven stars who could end their careers at Manchester United under new manager Ruben Amorim.
The Portuguese tactician has been confirmed as the Red Devils' new manager following the sacking of Erik ten Hag, with Amorim taking charge of his first Premier League game this weekend against Ipswich.
Amorim will want to focus on getting United back on track after a poor start to the season. And to do that, he needs to clean up the Red Devils' squad. Christian Eriksen, Victor Lindelof and Jonny Evans are all out of contract next summer and could be on their way out.
The Danish midfielder is expected to leave Old Trafford when his contract expires, while Lindelof is rumoured to be reuniting with Jose Mourinho at Fenerbahce. With Evans, the 36-year-old veteran centre-back is also likely to leave the club.
Other players whose contracts are due to expire include former captain Maguire, who was linked with a move to West Ham last summer and could be on the move soon, although the Red Devils have the option to extend his contract by a further year.
Man United have a similar deal in place for Amad Diallo. The Ivorian winger has struggled to establish himself at Old Trafford this season and talks over a new deal are expected.
While Casemiro and Tyrell Malacia still have 18 months left on their contracts, they still face scrutiny over their futures. The Brazilian has long been linked with a move away and United certainly don't want to lose him for free.
Malacia is also out of contract in 2026. The Dutchman has only just returned from a long injury lay-off so any talks are likely to be put on hold until he is fully fit.
While there are still many decisions to be made, one star who could leave is Brazilian winger Antony. United are reportedly willing to cut their losses on the £81m deal.
Amorim has full authority to make decisions about players with a budget expected to be tight in the future. He has spoken out in recent days but has not been clear about transfer plans.
To succeed, Man United need to combine a smart transfer strategy with stability on the coaching bench. Amorim is the right choice for this period, but he needs time and support to get the "Red Devils" back to the top.
"To be successful, you need to have a clear strategy about the style of play and the type of player that suits it. The top clubs do this after every transfer window.
The most important thing is to build on the principles, identity and spirit that the team had in the past. That is the foundation to move forward" - Amorim said.
