Despite a 1-0 victory over the Ho Chi Minh City Youth team in round 20 of the 2024-2025 National First Division, Hue club still could not escape the bottom of the table and was officially relegated after 12 consecutive years of competition in this playground.
After 20 matches, Hue only won 16 points, equal to Hoa Binh but ranked behind due to losing in head-to-head record in both matches. It is worth mentioning that Hoa Binh still has one match left against Ho Chi Minh City Youth Club on June 21, while Hue has played all rounds.
The only victory in the final match of the season, with the goal scored by Nguyen Huu Tuan (born in 2005) only had an honorary meaning. Sharing after the match, Huu Tuan expressed regret: "This year Hue has encountered many difficulties in terms of personnel. There are many young players but lack of playing experience, which makes it impossible for us to stay in the league."
On the other hand, Ho Chi Minh City Youth, despite losing the match, soon won the right to stay in the league with 20 points and still have one match left to play.
At the same time, the "reverse final" match between Long An and Hoa Binh at Long An Stadium ended with a 2-1 victory for the home team. Thanks to that, Long An officially stayed in the league one round early.
With the relegation, Hue club will return to the Second Division after 12 consecutive years of participating in the First Division since the 2013 season.
