On October 7, the World Football Federation (FIFA) officially announced the decision to appoint Mr. Tran Quoc Tuan - President of the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) to join the FIFA National Team Competition Committee for the 2025-2029 term.
According to information from the document sent to VFF, this decision was approved by the FIFA Council at a meeting held on October 2. FIFA affirmed that it will create all favorable conditions for Mr. Tran Quoc Tuan to be able to fulfill his role at this high-level agency.
The National Team Competition Committee is responsible for advising and supporting the FIFA Council in planning a strategy for organizing major tournaments such as the FIFA World Cup, FIFA U20, U17 World Cup and other important international events.
In addition to his role at FIFA, Mr. Tran Quoc Tuan is also currently a member of the Standing Committee of the Asian Football Confederation (AFC), Chairman of the Competition Committee of the AFC and AFF.
He is also a member of the Organizing Committee of the 2023-2027 Asian Cup finals and was recently appointed by AFC as Head of the Men's Football Management Board at the 2026 Asian Games (ASIAD) in Japan.
Not only Mr. Tran Quoc Tuan, FIFA also acknowledged VFF's contributions when appointing two other officials to the professional committees, Mr. Nguyen Van Phu - General Secretary of VFF, to join the FIFA Medical Committee; Ms. Nguyen Thanh Ha - Deputy General Secretary became a member of the FIFA Women's Football Committee.
The fact that 3 VFF representatives are trusted to play an important role in FIFA's professional agencies is a testament to the increasing prestige of Vietnamese football on the international level.
This is also a significant step forward in the journey of integration and contributing to the common development of regional and world football.
