On October 8, the Hanoi People's Committee held a groundbreaking ceremony for Component Project 2 - Investment in the construction of Thuong Cat Bridge and the road at both ends of the bridge.
Mr. Ngo Ngoc Van, Director of the Hanoi City Traffic Construction Investment Project Management Board (representative of the investor) said that the project is being implemented to gradually complete the planned traffic infrastructure system; serve daily travel needs, reduce traffic congestion, speed up the formation of urban areas in the area...
The project starts at Km3+504 intersecting with Ky Vu Street, Thuong Cat Ward; the end point is at Km8+731 intersecting with National Highway 23B, Thien Loc Commune.
The main bridge structure is a cable-stayed bridge. The total length of the bridge and the roads at both ends of the bridge is 5.226 km, of which the approach road is 1,321 m long, the bridge length is 3,904.6 m, the bridge width ensures 8 lanes (6 lanes for motor vehicles and 2 lanes for rudimentary vehicles). The total investment of the project is more than 7,300 billion VND from the city budget, expected to be completed in 2027.
Speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony, Vice Chairman of Hanoi People's Committee Duong Duc Tuan emphasized that this is an investment project on the list of priority key projects in Program No. 03-Ctr/TU dated March 17, 2021 of the City Party Committee on urban embellishment, urban development and urban economy of Hanoi City for the period 2021-2025.
The project contributes to completing the planned transport infrastructure system, connecting the area north of the Red River, contributing to the completion of the Ring Road 3.5, playing a key role in strengthening the connection of the Northwest area with the city's central urban area, sharing traffic with the Ring Road 3, promoting the socio-economic development of the capital.
Appreciating the efforts of the investor, the People's Committee of Thuong Cat Ward, Thien Loc Commune and related units, especially the support of the people, Vice Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee Duong Duc Tuan suggested that the investor and contractors focus maximum human resources, equipment, organize construction urgently, scientifically and safely; seriously implement in accordance with legal regulations, ensuring quality, technology and aesthetics.
During the construction process, the units ensure order, labor safety and environmental sanitation, have appropriate construction measures to minimize the impact on traffic in the area; complete the project on schedule approved by competent authorities.
"The construction process will inevitably be affected, I request that people in the area and traffic participants accompany and support the construction units to facilitate the progress, speed up the implementation, and complete the project soon" - Vice Chairman of Hanoi People's Committee Duong Duc Tuan said.
