Ho Chi Minh City Police Team recruits foreign players to compete with Tien Linh

MINH PHONG |

Striker Michael Olaha ended his time with Song Lam Nghe An to move to play for Ho Chi Minh City Police from the 2026-2027 season.

According to Lao Dong's source, Ho Chi Minh City Police Club has completed negotiations to bring foreign player Michael Olaha to play from next season. After a long time attached to Song Lam Nghe An, the Nigerian striker decided to find a new challenge.

Olaha is a familiar foreign player of the Nghe team through two different periods. He used to play for Song Lam Nghe An from 2017 to 2019 before going to Israel to play football. In 2022, the striker born in 1997 returned to Vinh stadium and quickly regained his important role in the attack.

In recent seasons, Olaha has always been in the group of players with the greatest influence of Song Lam Nghe An, with 39 goals and 19 assists since returning to the team.

Song Lam Nghe An's preparation to change its operating model after the 2025-2026 season is said to be affecting Olaha's decision to leave. Meanwhile, Ho Chi Minh City Police want to add more experience and quality to the attack, so they quickly approached this striker.

In addition, Olaha is also noticed for his ability to acquire Vietnamese citizenship. He has met the conditions to complete the procedures and is receiving support from relevant parties. If he becomes a Vietnamese citizen, Olaha has the opportunity to participate in coach Kim Sang-sik's personnel plan in the national team.

The Korean coach has used many naturalized players recently such as Nguyen Xuan Son or Do Hoang Hen. In the context that the Vietnamese national team is aiming for long-term goals at the Asian Cup and World Cup qualifiers, experienced players in the V.League such as Olaha are considered a noteworthy option.
