On April 17, coach Hoang Van Phuc was officially appointed to lead the Vietnamese women's national football team.

Sharing about the reason for choosing coach Hoang Van Phuc, Mr. Tran Anh Tu - VFF Vice President in charge of professional matters - said: "This is an experienced coach who has gone through many arenas. Finding a person who does women's football is really harder than men's football, although men's football is more stressful in terms of achievements. Managing people in women's football is also very difficult.
We realize that Mr. Phuc is a responsible person, VFF sent him to be an assistant to coach Mai Duc Chung to take over the women's team force. The coaching council highly appreciates Mr. Hoang Van Phuc, who can promote collective strength as well as many other factors.
No one is suitable for the position of head coach of the women's national team like Mr. Phuc. Surely, VFF as well as everyone will believe that Mr. Phuc will succeed in the new task".
Mr. Tu also added: "With national teams, VFF always supports them wholeheartedly, from financial conditions, logistics, and techniques. The national women's championship is played centrally in the form of league matches (home-away format). This creates favorable conditions for head coach Hoang Van Phuc to find more new players".

On the debut day, coach Hoang Van Phuc said: "Mr. Mai Duc Chung is a legend of Vietnamese women's football, he has a long process of leading the team and many achievements, especially a ticket to the World Cup. Such an legacy is really very stressful, but our profession is like that.
I have been familiar with the women's team for 1.5 years, Mr. Chung has always been very enthusiastic in guiding me, I have become familiar and learned a lot about women's football. I myself have also been playing men's football for many years from youth teams and clubs. I am also confident to take over the women's team".
Mr. Phuc added: "I have been in football for nearly 40 years and have been familiar with women's football in the past time. We female players have great willpower, very persistent. I believe that with good analysis of opponents, good preparation for the tournament, there will be good results. Here, the girls have a spirit of progress. I hope myself will have patience and convey reasonably".
Regarding the resources of overseas Vietnamese players, currently, coach Hoang Van Phuc is still monitoring from clubs such as Ho Chi Minh City or Thai Nguyen T&T. In the future, he hopes they will contribute to the Vietnamese women's team.
Regarding the goal, in the immediate future, the players aim to compete at ASIAD 20 because the Vietnamese women's team is in the process of transferring forces. VFF's goal is to go as deeply as possible in the tournament, but still determine that this is a testing arena for players.
