On the evening of June 10, at Bukit Jalil Stadium, the Malaysian team defeated the Vietnamese team 4-0 in the second match of Group F of the 2027 Asian Cup qualifiers.
This victory helped the Malaysian team end an 11-year streak of not beating the Vietnamese team since 2014. However, despite the big win, coach Cklamovski said the Malaysian team still has many things to improve.
He said at the post-match press conference: "I am very proud of the players' efforts. We all dream of the Asian Cup and are committed to achieving the goal of participating in this tournament.
From the first day of training, we have shown that we are a team with a desire to make the fans proud. Tonight they have proven their training results.
We won but there are many points to improve in terms of physical strength. Before the match, many predictions said we could not run more than Vietnam. In fact, the players tried their best throughout the match."
Regarding the difference between the two sets, coach Cklamovski commented: "In the first half, we created some chances and should have scored. The most important factor in the second half was discipline and thanks to that we won the prize. Discipline position, discipline formation, in attack and defense".
Coach Cklamovski said this is still not Malaysia's best squad. He mainly built the strength of the Vietnam national team based on the team spirit.
"I would like to thank the fans for filling in the gaps, making the match special. That is a good message, I see a lot of passion for Malaysian football, I hope tonight's performance and what is being built will unite and inspire football here", coach Cklamovski sent his message to fans.
Coach Cklamovski hopes that the victory over the Vietnamese team will end complaints about naturalized players.
"There were obstacles for the national team, complaints about us having many naturalized players. I'm Fed up with that and have spoken too much in interviews.
An interesting challenge. Because we have just had the season, we have to divide the training session into 3 stages, then play a friendly match with Cape Verde. In the final stage, we have new players but still rely on the team spirit that was built from the previous teams. The quality of the team is improving, but there is still a lot of work to do," concluded coach Cklamovski.
