In the opening match of Group A at Hang Day Stadium, the CAND Vietnam I team took the field with the main force of young players from the Hanoi Police U21 team.
Facing a Cambodia that plays cohesively and has a lot of experience, with most of the players competing in the national championship of this country, the home team has many difficulties in deploying the playing style.
Cambodia proactively accelerated the match and continuously exploited the loopholes in the defense of the Vietnam People's Public Security I. Within the first 20 minutes, the home team had to conceded 2 consecutive goals.

It was not until the end of the first half that the Vietnam People's Public Security I scored a goal to reduce the score to 1-2 when Hai Binh successfully finished after a set-piece from the right wing.
In the second half, the coaching staff of the Vietnam People's Public Security I increased their attack by bringing on two experienced players competing in the V.League, Trung Anh and Ngoc Thang.
However, this change is not enough to create a major turning point. Although The Cuong scored 1 more goal for the home team, Cambodia still showed their effectiveness in finishing with 2 more goals to close the match with a 4-2 victory.

Meanwhile, in Group B at PVF Stadium (Hung Yen), the CAND Vietnam II team had a favorable start when they won 3-0 against Singapore. Duc Nam scored a double and the remaining goal belonged to Tran Van Hoa.
In the early matches taking place on the same day, Thailand beat Laos 2-0 in Group A thanks to goals from Accordingorn Nonthakamchanra in the 6th minute on the penalty spot and Sutin Iamsa-Ard in the 67th minute.
