VPL-S7 season promises to elevate Vietnamese 7-a-side football

On the morning of May 5, the Launching Ceremony of the 2026 National 7-a-side Football Championship (VPL-S7) took place in Hanoi.

Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Hong Minh - Deputy Director of the Vietnam Sports Administration said: "Looking back at the journey from the first HPL seasons to the national scale of VPL today, we clearly see a strong transformation.

From a grassroots playground, you have turned 7-a-side football into a "specialty" imbued with Vietnamese identity, a professional football ecosystem from competition rules, transfer markets to organization and communication work.

This 7th season (VPL-S7) of 2026, with the gathering of strong teams from Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Da Nang and many provinces and cities across the country, I am sure that the heat of the tournament will spread even stronger than ever".

The noteworthy point of VPL is not only in the scale of competition but also in the change in operation. Many teams have invested more professionally in forces, facilities and organization. The transfer market, competition contracts or regime for 7-man football players have also gradually been shaped in recent years.

In the 2026 season, VPL-S7 continues to organize in 3 regions including the North, South and Central - Central Highlands. The 8 strongest teams will win tickets to the national finals taking place in Hanoi at the end of July.

Notably, the Northern region has 12 participating teams with many familiar representatives from Hanoi, Bac Ninh, Ha Tinh or Da Nang. The South also gathers 12 football teams from Ho Chi Minh City along with the Southeast and Mekong Delta provinces. Meanwhile, the Central - Central Highlands region plays in Da Nang with 8 teams participating.
