Tonight (September 29), U23 Indonesia will face U23 Vietnam in the final match of the 2025 U23 Southeast Asian Championship, taking place at Bung Karno Stadium.
Ahead of the match, Indonesian Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka expressed confidence in the team from the archipelago's ability to win the championship in this year's tournament.
Seeing the teams current form, I think a 3-0 score is possible, said Mr. Gibran.
The Indonesian Vice President also called on fans to support the home team by going to the stadium or watching it on television: "It is best for fans to come to the stadium to cheer live, otherwise they can watch it on TV".
Two years ago, U23 Indonesia and U23 Vietnam faced each other in the 2023 U23 Southeast Asian Cup final. At that time, the "Golden Star Warriors" defeated their opponents in a penalty shootout to successfully defend the championship title.
Therefore, U23 Indonesia believes that the upcoming match is an opportunity for the home team to get their "ored debt" back, while affirming their strength in the regional arena.
Speaking at the pre-match press conference, Indonesia U23 head coach - Mr. Donald Vanenburg said that the team's goal is to solve the match in 90 minutes.
"We want to end the match in the official match time. But if we have to rotate, it will depend on psychology and luck," he said.
The Dutch strategist also affirmed that he will not spend time practicing 11m football, but believes that his players will have enough courage to win if that scenario happens.
"We showed great spirit in the semi-finals against Thailand U23. If we have to play alternately in the final, I believe the whole team is ready," Mr. Vanenburg affirmed.
