Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Hoa Binh has just signed Decision No. 1644/QD-TTg on awarding the Prime Minister's Certificate of Merit to 1 collective and 24 individuals with outstanding contributions at the 2025 Southeast Asian U23 tournament held in Indonesia.
In particular, the U23 Vietnam team was honored to receive a Certificate of Merit from the Prime Minister for their outstanding achievement of winning the Gold Medal at the Southeast Asian U23 Football Championship.
In addition, 23 players in the coronation squad and Mr. Luu Danh Minh - assistant head coach also received Certificates of Merit for their outstanding competition and training achievements.
Previously, on July 30, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism submitted a document to the Prime Minister proposing a reward. The records of individuals and groups are appraised and approved in accordance with the provisions of the Law on Emulation and Commendation.
This is a recognition of the special achievements of U23 Vietnam in the regional tournament - where coach Kim Sang-sik and his team defeated U23 Indonesia 1-0 in the final match to successfully defend the championship title.
This is the third consecutive time the U23 Vietnam team has won the tournament, after 2022 and 2023, an unprecedented achievement in the history of the tournament.
With this achievement, coach Kim Sang-sik also set an individual milestone by becoming the first coach to win both the national team and U23 championships in the regional arena.
The success of the team is the result of thorough preparation, steadfast fighting spirit and effective training strategy - while opening up many expectations for Vietnamese youth football in the upcoming continental playgrounds.
