On the afternoon of August 1, Deputy General Secretary of the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) Nguyen Thanh Ha visited and encouraged goalkeeper of the national futsal team Ho Van Y at the hospital.
The goalkeeper born in 1997 has just undergone surgery on the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee after an injury while training with the club. Currently, he has entered the recovery treatment stage.
Doctors assess that Van Y has a good physical foundation, so his recovery will be more favorable than usual, but it will still take at least half a year to return. This means he will miss the 2026 Asian Futsal qualifiers in September and the 33rd SEA Games later this year.
At the meeting, Deputy General Secretary Nguyen Thanh Ha sent words of encouragement and motivation to Ho Van Y to stay optimistic and persevere in treatment to return soon. She affirmed that the VFF leadership always cares about, accompanies and will provide necessary support throughout the recovery process of this goalkeeper.
Ho Van Y is currently considered one of the best futsal goalkeepers in Vietnam. He grew up from the Da Nang futsal team (2015-201 2017), then joined Thai Son Nam and quickly affirmed his pivotal role in both the club and the national team.
In 2018, Van Y was included in the list of 10 best futsal goalkeepers in the world. At the FIFA Futsal World Cup 2021 in Lithuania, he played outstandingly, contributing to the Vietnam team's participation in the 1/8 round and was voted by FIFA as the Best Player in the match against the Czech Republic.
