Accordingly, this third training phase will take place at the Vietnam Football Federation Youth Football Training Center, from May 26 to May 31.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Minh Ngoc - General Director of VPF Company shared: "VAR technology has been present in Vietnam until the 3rd season. This season, some matches in the First Division have also applied VAR. Through that, we can see the active supporting role of VAR technology in refereeing.
As managers, organizers and operators of national professional football tournaments as well as directly contacting FIFA about the VAR project, we have worked closely with relevant parties to continue implementing the 4th VAR referee training course, constantly striving to ensure that the VAR referee force meets requirements and achieves the goals for the tournament.
For the 4th VAR referee class, in the 3rd training step of the decisive nature - there will be an intensity of learning for 6 consecutive days, trained close to the actual match with VAR".
VPF representative suggested that students stay focused, grasp the problem quickly and improve themselves to complete the course well and pass FIFA's assessment test.

The third training step is practiced on the field with simulation situations at increasing levels, from short situations of 10 minutes, 30 minutes to the full 90 minutes.
This class is directly taught by lecturers of the Referee Board of the Vietnam Football Federation. In addition, FIFA lecturers will remotely monitor through daily recording data, then evaluate the learning process of each referee, score and make a final decision on whether to be granted a certificate of duty in matches with VAR or not.
The 19 referees participating in this training include 5 national championship assistants, 6 First Division referees and 8 non-professional referees.
In the 4 VAR referee training courses, this is the second course that VPF Company and the VFF Referee Board have combined training for both professional and non-professional referees and assistant referees.
This is a long-term plan with the goal of preparing personnel for the next years, so that the application and operation of VAR in national professional football tournaments can be maintained continuously.
After 3 successful training courses, 36 Vietnamese referees and assistant referees have been granted the VAR Arbitration certificate. A number of non-professional referees with solid expertise have also been assigned to be VAR assistant referees (AVAR) in some matches of the 2024-2025 season.
