From March 27-31 in Hanoi, the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF), Vietnam Professional Football Joint Stock Company (VPF), and the VFF Referee Board will organize the 4th VAR referee training course for 27 referees (22 referees, professional assistant referees and 5 non-professional referees).
Mr. Farkhad - an experienced FIFA lecturer, along with Mr. Dang Thanh Ha - Head of the VFF Referee Board will be the main lecturers training for the VAR operation course in the LAB room (Laboratory). This is an important training step to get acquainted with VAR technology on the simulation system, from simple situations, short duration, gradually increasing difficulty level to monitoring the entire match (90 minutes).

Mr. Farkhad said that FIFA is always aiming to increase quality referees. Therefore, organizing referee training courses is necessary. This lecturer also assessed that Vietnamese referees have the ability and opportunity to develop in the region.
In addition to training VAR referees, course 4 will train 5 more VAR (RO) control techniques and 10 referee supervisors to participate in the listening to better understand how to operate in a match with VAR.
After 3 referee training courses have been implemented from 2023 to present, Vietnam currently has 36 referees and assistant referees certified by FIFA to perform VAR and AVAR duties.

Currently, VAR technology is applied in most V.League matches as well as some matches with high competition, affecting the ranking in the First Division, National Cup and a few matches outside the profession.
Thereby, contributing to significantly improving the professional quality of the matches, actively supporting referees to complete their tasks well, minimizing controversies, helping the matches to be more transparent and fair.
VPF Company is operating 4 VAR vehicles in 3 regions of the North, Central and South. Of which, 2 cars are from socialized mobilization sources, 2 cars are sponsored by FIFA for VFF. It is expected that in the coming time, VPF will find more funding sources to add more VAR vehicles, aiming to have more matches applying VAR technology.
Training of operating personnel with sufficient professional qualifications and technical processing skills is a top priority for VFF and VPF. In addition to training VAR and AVAR referees, the VFF Referee Board is also proactive in training a team of VAR referee lecturers to meet FIFA's requirements.
