The Football Federation of Cambodia (FFC) has just announced the decision to appoint Mr. Koji Gyotoku as head coach of the U23 team and the Cambodian national team with a one-year contract. Mr. Koji Gyotoku has been involved in Cambodian football for a long time.
The immediate task of coach Koji Gyotoku is to lead the Cambodian team against the Vietnamese team in the international friendly match on March 19, then the match against Aruba on March 25 at the Olympic Stadium (Cambodia).
Before becoming the head coach of the national and U23 teams, Mr. Gyotoku had many years of experience leading the youth teams of Cambodia. Since 2019, he started working with the U21 team, then became the head coach of the U16 and U19 teams. Recently, he and the U16 Cambodia team participated in the 2024 Southeast Asian U16 Championship in Indonesia.
Mr. Koji Gyotoku is also widely known as the interim coach of the national team in a number of major tournaments, including the 2024 ASEAN Cup. In this tournament, he worked with his compatriot Yoshimi Hamasaki, who played as an assistant.
