Today (September 19), the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) announced the list of 3 players in the Southeast Asian Star Team for the friendly match with Man United. The three chosen faces are defender Dominic Tan, goalkeeper Haziq Nadzli and striker Sergio Aguero.
Thus, some of the most prominent names in Malaysian football such as Endrick, midfielder Arif Aiman... are all absent. Most likely, this is a move showing that FAM wants to keep the strongest force for the Malaysian team, waiting for the match against the Vietnamese team in the 2027 Asian Cup qualifiers, taking place in June.

On the same day, the Southeast Asian Football Federation (AFF) also announced three Thai players to participate in the Man United squad, the goalkeeper Patiwat Khammai, defender Nicholas Mickelson and midfielder Peeradon Chamratsamee. All three are the pillars of Thailand, contributing greatly in the journey to the ASEAN Cup 2024 final of "Elephant War".
Top players in Thai football such as Chanathip, Supachok, Theerathon Bunmathan are not present. Meanwhile, two bright attacking stars Suphanat and Patrik Gustavsson are both injured.
Thus, the total number of players in the list of Southeast Asian stars against Man United has reached 17 and is expected to increase in the coming time.
According to the schedule, the Southeast Asian Stars will play a friendly match with Man United club on May 25 at Bukit Jalil Stadium (Malaysia).
