The U22 Vietnam team just won the gold medal at the 33rd SEA Games. According to President of the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) Tran Quoc Tuan, this result is an important basis for continuing to invest in depth in national teams.
" international friends highly appreciate this achievement, when we are at the top of the total group for football medals at the 33rd SEA Games. This shows that Vietnamese football has affirmed its position in the region and demonstrated a resilient, uncompromising competitive spirit, especially in the men's football final, Mr. Tran Quoc Tuan affirmed.
Recalling the men's football final match between U22 Vietnam and U22 Thailand, the VFF President shared details about the emotional developments at Rajamangala Stadium: "A team that was behind 2-0, the possibility of turning the tables is very low not only for Vietnamese football but also for the world, especially in the final match. That is a huge difficulty.
I asked the team to regain their spirit and try to score early. When Thai Son entered the field, U22 Vietnam held the midfield and scored an early goal by Dinh Bac. From there, hope has returned to us and goals continue to come".
Looking forward to upcoming goals, Mr. Tran Quoc Tuan emphasized the strategy of building a next-generation force: "Our common goal is to create a generation of quality next-generation players for the national team towards the 2030 and 2034 World Cups".
Mr. Tuan said that VFF has upgraded the youth training system, taking advantage of international relationships to bring teams training trips in countries with developed football, competing with quality teams.
From 2015 to present, that continuous preparation has helped Vietnamese football produce next generations that are competitive in the international arena. The regular appearance of U23 in the Asian arena is an important success of Vietnamese football.
"VFF will continue to invest in youth teams to prepare for the upcoming tournaments. First are the players of the U20 Vietnam team, because in the next 2 years, they will participate in the SEA Games and ASIAD", said Mr. Tuan.
The thorough preparation, continuous investment in youth training and the domestic tournament system is the foundation for Vietnamese football to aim for greater goals in the continental and world arenas.
For the women's team, VFF continues to invest towards the goal of attending the second World Cup, despite admitting the difficulties in terms of players' strength and age.
