VFF spends a lot of money on plane tickets for Vietnam team to attend semi-finals

Because the opponent in the semi-finals has not been determined, the Vietnamese team has booked tickets for two legs to Singapore and Malaysia.

Before the match against Myanmar at Viet Tri Stadium (Phu Tho), the Vietnamese team was at the top of Group B, with a full chance of winning a ticket to the semi-finals of the ASEAN Cup 2024. Therefore, the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) had to prepare and book flight tickets early for the first leg of the semi-final away match.

Passively waiting for the results of Group A to determine whether the opponent is Singapore or Malaysia also affects the team's travel, rest time, and training. Therefore, the VFF logistics team booked tickets for 46 members of the Vietnamese team on both flights to Singapore and Malaysia.

Booking two flights at the same time ensures initiative when the opponent in the semi-finals is not yet determined.

Accordingly, on the evening of December 20, the Singapore team tied 0-0 with Malaysia in the final match, thereby finishing second in Group A, so Vietnam had to cancel its flight to Kuala Lumpur.

The cost of travel from Hanoi to Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia) is at least 5 million VND/person. Thus, with 46 members, VFF will lose up to 230 million VND. However, this is only an estimated figure, the total detailed airfare will be based on the negotiation between VFF and the agent after working.

In Group B, the final match will take place on the evening of December 21. Coach Kim Sang-sik and his team will host Myanmar. With just a draw, the Vietnamese team will advance to the top of the group, regardless of the result of the remaining match.

If they achieve the goal of winning Group B, the Vietnamese team will visit Singapore on December 26. After that, Quang Hai and his teammates will play the second leg on December 29 at home.
