From the real needs of workers
It is not difficult to imagine the pressure that workers in factories and workshops face every day: Regular working hours, shifts, little rest time, and countless worries about life. In that cycle, the need to relax, exchange, access knowledge, even just a quiet corner to recharge, often becomes a luxury for many workers.
With that understanding, the Trade Union of Da Nang High-Tech Park and Industrial Zones (KNNC&CKCN) has proactively proposed and implemented the model of "Union Cultural Activity Point" - a multi-functional, close and humane space, reserved for workers.
Not just a reading room or a place to rest, these living spaces are designed synchronously with many functional areas: Union bookcases, legal shelves, policy propaganda corners, lively check-in areas, relaxation spaces, chats... All of these are aimed at building a friendly environment, where workers can find useful information, healthy entertainment... Up to this point, there have been at least 5 living spaces established at FDI enterprises in Da Nang City such as Murata Manufacturing Vietnam Co., Ltd., Foster Da Nang Electronics Co., Ltd. and KeyTronic Vietnam Co., Ltd. Despite differences in scale and industry, the common point is that businesses pay special attention to the spiritual life of workers.
Many points of activity also have invested in mobile sound systems, thematic books, and internal communication equipment to increase interactivity and the ability to organize rich activities. Many workers have proactively shared about the positive changes in mood and work performance when there is a place to relax, read, share, instead of just "otching your face" on the phone as before.
A step forward in trade union thinking
The model of "Union Cultural Activity Point" is not only a temporary initiative, but also a sign showing a change in the thinking of union activities. If in the past, trade unions were often associated with activities to protect material rights, now the role of spiritual training and creating a humane environment is also pushed to the forefront.
This is completely consistent with the requirements of sustainable development of businesses in the new era - where productivity comes not only from technology, but also comes from the satisfaction and happiness of employees. A worker with good mental health is a person who is creative, long-term worker, reduces internal conflicts and increases loyalty to businesses.
From initial results, the Da Nang CNC Industrial Park and Industrial Park Trade Union is planning to expand this model to enterprises with 200 or more employees, especially in the FDI sector. This is not only a problem of resources, but also requires the companionship and sharing of businesses in allocating space, budget as well as living time for employees.
Each living space can be just a room of a few dozen square meters, but it opens up a space for deep spiritual connection. From there, positive values will spread back to the enterprise itself: Cohesion, pride, and even the proactive contribution of ideas and solutions from workers to production activities - something that cannot be bought with money. The model of "Union Cultural Activity Point" is not only a welfare project, but is the most obvious demonstration of how a modern union organization exercises its role: Comprehensively caring for workers, both physically, rights and spiritual life.
