Mr. Mai Thanh Phuong - Chairman of Vietnam Railway Trade Union - said that Vietnam Railway Trade Union (VNRTU) has focused on innovating the content and methods of operation of the industry-wide trade union organization.
Implementing the annual work theme, immediately after deploying the work program, the Standing Committee of the Vietnam Railway Trade Union issued a plan to guide and direct Trade Unions at all levels to thoroughly grasp the Resolution of the 16th Congress of the Vietnam Railway Trade Union and the Resolution of the 13th Congress of the Vietnam Trade Union.
At the industry level, the Vietnam Railway Trade Union has organized the dissemination of the Resolution of the 16th Congress of the Vietnam Railway Trade Union and the Resolution of the 13th Congress of the Vietnam Trade Union to all key union officials at all levels.
To contribute to improving the quality of the union cadres who are politically steadfast, have sufficient professional capacity, skills, and working methods to build a strong union organization; promptly update and equip knowledge to meet the requirements and tasks of representing and protecting the legitimate and legal rights and interests of union members and workers in the new situation and the increasingly deep integration process.
The Vietnam General Confederation of Labour has issued Plan No. 10/KH-CDDS dated February 21, 2024 on training and fostering trade union officials in 2024, focusing on the following subjects:
Management leaders, union officials in the planning source of union levels; full-time union officials, chairmen, vice chairmen, members of executive committees of trade unions at levels directly above the grassroots level, grassroots trade unions and above; members of the Inspection Committee, members of the Women's Union; members of the executive committees of departmental trade unions; heads and deputy heads of trade union groups.
In 2024, the Vietnam General Confederation of Labour organized 8 professional skills training courses in the regions (Yen Bai, Bac Giang, Vinh, Nghia Binh, Saigon), providing professional training for female cadres and grassroots trade union cadres with a total of 763 union cadres at all levels participating; sent 20 full-time union cadres to attend training and professional development courses organized by the General Confederation of Labour.
The Executive Committee of the 16th Vietnam Railway Trade Union has conducted a preliminary review of 5 years of implementing Resolution No. 03/NQ-CDDS dated July 25, 2019 of the Executive Committee of the Vietnam Railway Trade Union on "Synchronously implementing solutions to innovate the organization and operation methods of the Vietnam Railway Trade Union in the period of 2019 - 2023 and the following years".
Thereby, it was assessed that 15 targets set out in the Resolution were basically completed and exceeded, only the target of recruiting union members was not completed due to the gradual decrease in the labor force in recent years.
Along with that, implementing Document 303/TTg-DMDN dated April 7, 2022 of the Prime Minister and the Resolution of the Party Committee and the Board of Members of Vietnam Railway Corporation on the restructuring plan of enterprises and units under Vietnam Railway Corporation, Vietnam Railway Trade Union has deployed the arrangement and consolidation of the organization and staff at the Trade Union of Railway Transport Joint Stock Company on the basis of merging the two Trade Unions of Hanoi Railway Transport Joint Stock Company and Saigon Railway Transport Joint Stock Company (the direct superior trade union at the grassroots level) to ensure compliance with the provisions of the Charter, ensuring the stable operation of the trade union organization in the enterprise.
