Passion for children in mountainous areas
Ms. Tran Thi Mai Phuong (born in 1978) was born in Ung Hoa district (Hanoi). When she was a child, she moved to Hoa Binh with her parents and has been attached to this land until now. In 2000, after graduating from the pedagogical major, Ms. Phuong chose Ky Son district (now Hoa Binh city) as the place to start working. In 2009, she was transferred to the Industrial High School.
Over 20 years of working, Ms. Phuong has had many outstanding initiatives to improve teaching quality, including the initiative "English Project for Hoa Binh Children".
Sharing about the above initiative, Ms. Phuong said: “Starting from a trip to support the highlands, when I saw that the students' bookshelves were lacking, along with the fact that foreign language learning was not yet complete, in 2021, I, along with the Vice Principal, students and an English teacher of the school, implemented the "English Project for Hoa Binh Children" at 2 primary and secondary schools in Hoa Binh city and Da Bac district.
According to Ms. Phuong, her group provided books, built reading corners and let students experience and tell stories in English... Up to now, students and teachers are more confident, they have participated in presentations and introduced places where they live in English more often, at the same time, their pronunciation is more standard, the quality is much better than before.

Regarding union activities, Ms. Phuong has been trusted by union members in the unit with many years of participation in the executive committee and Vice President of the Union. From the union congress for the 2023-2028 term, she was elected President of the Union of Industrial High School (Hoa Binh city).
As the President of the Industrial High School Union, Ms. Phuong and the union have coordinated with the school to ensure the regime and welfare for union members and workers, focusing on protecting legitimate rights, building advanced models and promoting emulation movements in accordance with the reality of union members. Timely rewards and encouragement create motivation for union members to strive to improve their professional qualifications and actively participate in cultural and sports activities.
Up to now, the Industrial High School's Trade Union has over 100% of its members recognized as Excellent Trade Union Members, and 100% of its female members recognized as Good at School Work - Good at Housework.

With a high sense of responsibility, she actively participates in many typical initiatives to improve the quality of teaching, contributing to creating a more equitable and humane educational environment”.
With her tireless contributions, for many consecutive years, Ms. Tran Thi Mai Phuong has achieved the title of grassroots emulation fighter; Certificate of Merit from the Provincial Federation of Labor; Certificate of Merit from the Women's Union of Hoa Binh province; Certificate of Merit from the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor in 2023.
In addition, Ms. Phuong and the Trade Union of Industrial High School achieved the emulation title of the grassroots Trade Union with 2 years of completing tasks well; 3 years of completing tasks excellently; At the same time, received a Certificate of Merit from the Executive Committee of the Hoa Binh Provincial Labor Federation; a Certificate of Merit from the Vietnam Education Trade Union and a Certificate of Merit from the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor.
