Mr. Pham Hoai Phuong, Chairman of the Vietnam Transport Trade Union, said that in 2024, emulation activities and care for union members and workers have received special attention from industry unions at all levels.
With the spirit of dynamism, creativity, innovation, daring to think, daring to do, the team of union officials, union members, and workers in the transport sector have joined hands and unanimously overcome difficulties, achieved great and comprehensive results in all aspects of activities, completing and exceeding most of the set targets.
Notably, the jobs of union members and workers have been basically maintained, incomes have been stable, working conditions and policies have been guaranteed. The average income of union members, workers and civil servants in the industry has reached over 10.3 million VND/person/month.
Vietnam Transport Trade Union focuses on directing and implementing activities to care for union members and workers. On the occasion of Lunar New Year 2024, with the motto "All union members and workers have Tet", the Trade Union gave gifts to many groups and individuals with a total amount of over 4.5 billion VND.
Organize Workers' Month activities in 2024 with the theme "Solidarity of workers, implementation of resolutions." At the same time, thoroughly grasp and direct units to organize practical, effective and economical Workers' Month activities. In particular, the "Union Meal" program was implemented, contributing to improving meals for more than 6,000 union members and workers at the units.
The union also mobilized union members and workers to join hands to support people affected by storm No. 3 (Yagi) with an amount of over 8.7 billion VND.
The emulation movements jointly launched by the Vietnam Transport Trade Union have closely followed the emulation content of the industry and have been widely deployed with many diverse and rich forms, attracting a large number of union members and workers to participate, achieving achievements ahead of schedule in key national transport projects. Through the emulation movement, 112 initiatives from collectives and individuals have been recorded, bringing in a value of 293.4 billion VND.
Regarding organization, the trade union at all levels has developed more than 1,900 members; introduced to the Party for consideration and admitted 583 outstanding members (reaching 136.53%).
Speaking at the conference, Mr. Nguyen Minh Dung, member of the Presidium and Chairman of the Inspection Committee of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, highly appreciated the Vietnam Transport Trade Union for having many creative and practical solutions and activities in 2024, achieving comprehensive results.
Regarding the 2025 tasks, Mr. Nguyen Minh Dung suggested that the Executive Committee of the Vietnam Transport Trade Union focus on closely coordinating with the Vietnam Construction Trade Union to develop and implement a plan to merge the two industry unions, in accordance with Resolution No. 18-NQ/TW. Before that, it is necessary to do a good job of organizing personnel and finance for a successful merger.
“In the immediate future, we request that the Vietnam Transport Trade Union pay attention to taking care of union members and workers during the Lunar New Year 2025. In addition to reviewing and having policies to support union members, workers and full-time union officials in difficult circumstances, there should be practical activities to care for and encourage workers on construction sites, projects and production workers during the Tet holiday,” said Mr. Nguyen Minh Dung.
As of December 15, 2024, the Vietnam Transport Trade Union Charity Fund has decided to support activities with a total amount of more than 4.8 billion VND, including funding to build 8 union shelters; visiting and presenting gifts to 133 groups, 1,963 employees; presenting gifts to 600 former Youth Volunteers, members of the Ho Chi Minh Trail Truong Son Traditional Association. In addition, it also supports workers, visits workers on construction sites from the union's financial resources and the Vietnam Transport Trade Union's social fund with an amount of more than 150 million VND.
