Vietnam Construction Trade Union exchanges experiences in protecting workers' rights

On September 4, the Vietnam Construction Trade Union held bilateral talks with the Construction, Wood and Mining Trade Union of the Republic of Cyprus PEO.

Attending the talks, on the side of the Vietnam Construction Trade Union were Mr. Pham Hoai Phuong, Member of the Executive Committee of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, Member of the Executive Committee of the Party Committee of the Ministry of Construction, Chairman of the Vietnam Construction Trade Union; Vice Chairmen of the Vietnam Construction Trade Union: Au Thi Dinh, Nguyen Ngoc Huyen...

On the side of the Construction, Timber and Mine Union of the Republic of Cyprus PEO, there were Mr. Adamos Katalanos, Secretary General, Head of the delegation; Mr. Andreas Antoniou, Secretary of the Construction Union of Paphos District and Ms. Panayiotou Panayiota, in charge of women's affairs.

Speaking to welcome the Delegation of the Construction, Timber and Mine Union of the Republic of Cyprus PEO, Mr. Pham Hoai Phuong, Chairman of the Vietnam Construction Trade Union, expressed his pleasure to welcome friends and comrades from the Construction, Timber and Mine Union of the Republic of Cyprus PEO.

Mr. Pham Hoai Phuong - Chairman of the Vietnam Construction Trade Union emphasized that although Vietnam and the Republic of Cyprus are geographically far apart, geographical distance is not an obstacle to the friendship and cooperation between the two countries in general, as well as between the two construction industry trade union organizations in particular. The similarities in the operating goals, especially the common orientation towards workers, protecting the legitimate and lawful rights and interests of workers and building increasingly strong trade union organizations, are an important foundation for the two organizations to maintain and develop good cooperative relationships in the past time.

The Chairman of the Vietnam Construction Trade Union expressed his belief that this visit and talks will continue to create opportunities for the two sides to exchange good practices, share practical experiences in trade union activities, thereby strengthening understanding, trust and attachment between trade union officials of the two organizations.

At the same time, wishing that after the visit, each member of the delegation will have more beautiful memories of the country and people of Vietnam and bring with them the sincere feelings of friends and comrades at the Vietnam Construction Trade Union.

In an open, friendly and constructive atmosphere, the two sides focused on exchanging and sharing experiences on trade union organization and activities, the specific characteristics of construction industry trade union activities, as well as solutions to improve the effectiveness of caring for, representing, and protecting the legitimate and lawful rights and interests of workers.

The two sides spent a lot of time exchanging views on the work of caring for and implementing regimes and policies for female workers; occupational safety and health, prevention of labor accidents and ensuring safe working conditions for workers in the construction industry; and sharing experiences in propaganda, mobilization of union members, development of union members, building trade union organizations and deploying activities to care for the material and spiritual life of union members and workers.

Through the talks, the two sides had more opportunities to learn about the organizational model, operating methods and practical experiences of each organization in representing, caring for, and protecting workers.

The practical exchanges at the talks contributed to strengthening understanding and trust between the Vietnam Construction Trade Union and the Construction, Wood and Mine Trade Union of the Republic of Cyprus PEO, and at the same time created a premise for the two sides to continue to maintain exchange activities, share experiences, and promote cooperative relations in the coming time" - Mr. Pham Hoai Phuong said.
