Strawberry jam is quite popular with many people when eaten with banh mi for breakfast or as a cake ingredient. Accordingly, housewives can prepare delicious mulberry jams by hand and ensure safety when using.
To make strawberry jam, housewives need to prepare about 1kg of fresh strawberries; 600gr of white sand sugar; 1 lemon and a little salt.
Strawberries should be washed off to remove dirt, then soaked in diluted salt water for about 10 - 15 minutes before rinsing with water and letting it dry. After draining the water, remove the strawberry stems and cut them in half to make it easier to make jam.
In a large bowl, gently arrange a layer of mulberries and spread a layer of sugar evenly on top. The usual ratio is about 1kg of strawberries corresponding to 600gr of sugar, however, housewives can also adjust according to taste.
Next, pour lemon juice over the strawberry and sugar mixture to help the jam have a bright color as well as a refreshing taste. Keeping the mixture in a cool place for 4 - 5 hours will help the sugar completely melt and each strawberry drain into the water.
Use a non-stick pan or pot and turn on the stove to medium heat. Pour all the mulberry and sugar mixture into the pan.
When boiling, reduce the heat and stir slowly to avoid breaking the mulberries. until the mixture thickens (about 30 - 45 minutes), the mulberry is sticky and bright red.
After the stewed, let the jam cool naturally and during that time prepare a clean, dried and sterilized glass jar.
Put the jam in a jar and cover it, store in the refrigerator to prepare dishes or mix refreshing drinks to enjoy. Homemade mulberry jam can be used comfortably for 1 to 2 months.
