Recorded at Dong Me street on the morning of September 17, the section from Me Tri intersection to alley 45 Dong Me appeared localized flooding. Water flooding on the road surface caused many difficulties for people's travel.
Many people choose to walk through flooded areas or find ways to go around to other routes.

According to Mr. Nguyen Van Quyen (46 years old, a resident living in the area), flooding occurs quite often every time there is heavy rain. "It floods as soon as it rains. This section is flooded as soon as it rains," Mr. Quyen shared.

Regarding the water level, people said that in previous floods, the water sometimes rose to the end of the doorsteps of families. To limit water from overflowing into houses, many households have to proactively build higher doorsteps.
Around evening, the water recedes if it stops raining. It usually takes about 10-12 hours to completely drain all the water," Mr. Quyen said.
After the water receded, the work of the households has not ended. Mud and garbage follow the water flow into the living area, causing people to sweep and clean their houses and the area in front of their doors.

Mr. Quyen said that every time heavy rain causes flooding, the road becomes a garbage collection point because water sweeps away many types of waste, causing environmental unsanitary conditions.
I really feel very unsanitary, especially having to wade through sewer water and garbage water sections," Mr. Quyen expressed.

According to residents, the reason for the slow drainage may be related to the drainage system in the area. Some old sewer sections are blocked by garbage, while the sewer system has not been connected, making it difficult for water to drain into the main system.
Not only affecting daily life, the flooding situation also directly affects the trading activities of people on Dong Me street.

Ms. Ngo Thuy Quynh (34 years old, doing business in the area) said that on heavy rainy days from about 4-5 am, when the water starts to rise, she must proactively contact shippers and customers so that they come to pick up goods early. When the water is deeply flooded, the store has to stop selling or switch to mainly delivery.
If it's deeply flooded, we stop selling, mainly shipping goods, customers can't get to the place," Ms. Quynh shared.

Ms. Quynh also said that the peak business area of her family used to be flooded near the door during storms and prolonged heavy rains.
When the water is so high, I only have to let the staff take a break and close the shop, but I have no way to fix it," Ms. Quynh said with a smile.

People's travel and work are also affected when many roads and alleys around the area are flooded. According to people, the area is being cordoned off and under construction, so the number of alternative walkways is not much left.
The flooding situation makes people proactively raise their belongings high, limit water from overflowing into their houses and clean up after the water recedes. People hope that the drainage system in the area will be improved soon to limit flooding every time heavy rain appears.

Records at Dong Me street on the morning of September 17 show that although the water may recede after many hours when the rain ends, people still have to spend more time cleaning and overcoming the effects caused by flooding.
