People with cirrhosis should not eat this food too much

People with cirrhosis must pay close attention to their diet because this factor plays a very important role in supporting liver activity and limiting complications.

Cirrhosis is a condition in which the liver is damaged for a long time, in which healthy liver cells are gradually replaced by scar tissue, reducing liver function.

For people with cirrhosis, fresh food should be prioritized, and processed foods should be limited.

One of the most important reasons that housewives need to understand is that processed foods often contain very high levels of sodium (salt).

Sausages, cold cuts, canned foods, instant noodles or frozen foods are often supplemented with a lot of salt for preservation and flavor enhancement.

When consuming too much sodium, people with cirrhosis are prone to water retention, edema and ascites – common complications that cause abdominal accumulation of fluids, causing discomfort and seriously affecting health.

Processed foods often contain a lot of saturated and trans fats. These ingredients can increase inflammation in the body and create additional burdens for the already weakened liver.

Regular consumption of unhealthy fat-rich foods can also disrupt lipid metabolism and affect the cardiovascular health of patients.

Another problem is that many packaged foods contain preservatives, colorings and food additives. Although these substances are used within permissible limits, the liver still has to participate in their metabolism and excretion. For people with cirrhosis, the ability to process these substances has declined, making the body more susceptible to overload than healthy people.

Not only that, processed foods are often poor in vitamins, minerals and natural antioxidants. Meanwhile, people with cirrhosis need to be provided with adequate nutrients from green vegetables, fresh fruits, whole grains and quality protein sources to support cell regeneration and maintain overall health.

Therefore, housewives should prioritize preparing meals from fresh ingredients such as fish, lean meat, beans, vegetables and fruits. Minimizing canned food, processed meat and pre-packaged dishes will help reduce the burden on the liver, support complication control and improve the quality of life for people with cirrhosis.
