On the afternoon of December 16, the Phan Thiet City Labor Federation, Binh Thuan Province, held a meeting to summarize union activities in 2024 and deploy directions and tasks for 2025. Phan Thiet is a vibrant city under Binh Thuan Province. The Phan Thiet City Labor Federation has 185 grassroots unions with 13,611 union members/14,138 workers, civil servants, and laborers.
Assessing the trade union activities in the area in the past year, Mr. Vo Huy Luan - Chairman of the Phan Thiet City Labor Federation said that he has focused on the grassroots and workers, coordinating with functional agencies to inspect compliance with labor laws at enterprises.
Compliance with labor laws on social insurance, health insurance, and unemployment insurance is fully implemented by grassroots unions and ensures the rights of workers. Production and business activities have basically stabilized, so the income and life of workers have improved. Timely coordination with the City Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs to mediate 12 labor disputes on wages.
The emulation movements were actively responded to by grassroots unions, connecting workers with enterprises, creating harmonious and progressive relationships within the unit. And 5 grassroots unions of non-state enterprises were established, developing 1,261 new union members.
In his speech, Mr. Ho Cong Duong - Vice Chairman of the Binh Thuan Provincial Federation of Labor highly appreciated the achievements of Phan Thiet City's trade unions in the past year. There have been no strikes, work stoppages or unrest involving workers at the grassroots trade unions. The grassroots trade unions have played a role in monitoring and implementing policies for workers and civil servants. He also highly appreciated the fact that the grassroots trade unions have closely followed administrative reforms and emulation movements.
Mr. Ho Cong Duong also suggested 5 more issues for grassroots unions to discuss and apply in practice in 2025. He emphasized the role of trade unions in implementing grassroots democracy regulations; actively and proactively participating in building harmonious, stable and progressive labor relations in enterprises, so that trade unions are truly organizations of and for workers.
At the program, Mr. Vo Huy Luan - Chairman of Phan Thiet City Labor Federation launched the emulation movement and had the cluster leaders sign the emulation agreement.
On this occasion, 48 collectives and 55 individuals with outstanding achievements in emulation movements and trade union activities in 2024 were awarded certificates of merit by the Binh Thuan Provincial Federation of Labor and certificates of merit by the Phan Thiet City Federation of Labor.
