Health difficulties seriously affected his ability to work and income, while the family still had to take care of two young children of school age and regular drug costs.
Mr. Cao Van Tuan is 1 of 1. 135 union members and workers directly under the Hanoi Labor Federation received gifts from the Program.
In particular, on June 7, Mr. Cao Van Tuan was personally presented with a gift from the program by Member of the Party Central Committee, President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labour Nguyen Anh Tuan and received direct encouragement. In which, President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labour Nguyen Anh Tuan hoped that workers would take care of their health, strive to overcome adversity, and at the same time affirmed that the Trade Union organization always accompanies, cares for, and protects the legitimate and lawful rights and interests of union members and workers.
Ms. Mac Thi Minh Hien, a member of the Vietnam Construction Trade Union, received gifts from the program. Ms. Hien works at Dong Anh LICOGI Mechanical Joint Stock Company (Hanoi). Currently, she is being treated for stage III nasopharyngeal cancer, in very difficult circumstances because her husband is also a worker - low income; they are raising 2 young children, of school age...
On August 7, in an exchange with a reporter from Lao Dong Newspaper, Ms. Mac Thi Minh Hien was very touched and expressed her deep gratitude for the concern of the Trade Union organization. Ms. Hien said that the timely encouragement both materially and spiritually from the Trade Union organization is a great source of motivation for workers in difficult circumstances to continue to overcome difficulties, stabilize their lives, feel secure in labor production and successfully complete assigned tasks.
Mr. Pham Hoai Phuong - Member of the Executive Committee of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labour, Chairman of the Vietnam Construction Trade Union - said that the activities of visiting and giving gifts not only show the practical concern of the Trade Union organization for union members and workers in difficult circumstances but also spread the spirit of sharing and humanity, contributing to consolidating the workers' belief in their representative organization.
Concretizing the spirit of the 14th Vietnam Trade Union Congress
According to the VGCL, after more than 3 months of implementation, up to now, 23,378 union members and workers have received gifts from the program, with a total amount of more than 34.768 billion VND.
Standing Vice President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labour Ngo Duy Hieu said that the program has promptly concretized the spirit of the 14th Vietnam Trade Union Congress according to the motto of strongly focusing on grassroots levels, taking union members and workers as the center; conveying the political message of the Congress into specific and practical care activities, with targets, levels of support and clear implementation methods. Thereby, contributing to affirming the spirit of "Congress of Action", creating a practical mark right from the beginning of the 2026-2031 term.
With 23,378 union members and workers being supported, it shows that the scale of the Program is relatively large, has a strong spread, and the selection of target groups as workers suffering from critical illnesses and occupational diseases shows the sharing and companionship of the Trade Union organization at the time when workers face the most difficulties" - Mr. Ngo Duy Hieu commented.
This is also the first time the care program of the Trade Union organization has been implemented through a social security account on the VNeID platform. The innovation of support methods contributes to improving publicity and transparency, ensuring support for the right people, reducing organizational costs and gradually promoting digital transformation in the care of union members and workers.
Through the process of reviewing, preparing dossiers and appraising, the program not only provides immediate support but also helps trade union levels to better identify the number, circumstances and needs of union members and workers suffering from dangerous diseases and occupational diseases.
This is an important practical basis for researching and developing long-term support policies, mobilizing more social resources and improving the effectiveness of care work in the period 2026 - 2031" - Mr. Ngo Duy Hieu said.
