A survey by Manpower shows that 41% of businesses in the Asia-Pacific region are actively expanding their scale, opening up a series of attractive job opportunities. However, up to 77% of employers admitted to having difficulty finding candidates with suitable skills.
Although job opportunities are not lacking, many Gen Z still find it difficult to enter the labor market. The reason was pointed out that GenZ lacked practical experience; did not know how to highlight themselves; lacked orientation and soft skills.
Manpower offers 5 tips for GenZ to score points when they do not have work experience:
Leveraging experience from extracurricular activities
Club activities, event organization, or personal projects are all valuable experiences. They demonstrate their ability to work in groups, manage time and solve problems.
Learning new skills
Proactively learning more professional skills (Excel, design, programming) and soft skills (interview, presentation) to "upgrade" yourself is a big plus in the eyes of employers.
Internship and part-time work
This is the fastest way for you to approach a real work environment, understand the working process, and expand relationships at work.
Prepar a professional CV
A clear, outstanding CV with strengths, with specific evidence from activities, projects or courses will help make up for the lack of work experience. Don't forget to customize your CV to suit each job to show your interest and seriousness with the job.
Scoring in the interview round
Dress politely, on time, confident and prepare for answers will help you score points in the interview - even if you do not have experience.
